Job Description

Perform all final inspection steps as outlined on the inspection sequence and drawing on a variety of rings and components, including a wide variety of configurations. Check sequence or specifications for special requirements. Charge rings into Shipping Department. Use prints, sketches, process sheets, instructions, etc, to assure work is acceptable within specifications and in conformance to know standards perform in-process and cell inspections. Check parts for characteristics such as width, wall, end clearance, tension, step height, step clearance, surface finish, face light, side light, I.D. light, flatness etc., by setting up and using instruments such as micrometers, sheffield gate, air gage, indicators, crown gage, O.D. light, optic scope, I.D., O.D. groove gages, CMM machine, pre-text gage, etc. Use comparator to check flats, angles, bevels, groove depth, radius and location. Inspect rings visually for defects such as deep scratches, broken or rough edges, chatter, characteristic tool marks, burrs and foundry defects. Set-up and mark rings by various methods such as vibrapeen, air-grit or electroetch equipment (make stencils for electroetch). Dip and move rings. Keep quality records, complete inspection sequences, fill out MRB’s, scrap tickets. Keep other records or sheets as directed. Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly. As needed perform duties of Inspector Process. Notify Supervision of problems or difficulties. Report any accidents and injuries to supervisors immediately.
