Job Description

Environmental Health & Safety Manager – Factory

Supporting the Sumter and Charleston Locations


Lead factory EHS activity to make it an industry leader in EHS performance.

Support employees' EHS and contractors performing machining, assembly, material handling and office functions.

Key Responsibilities include

Develops and implements EHS policy, strategy and procedures of SKF USA Inc. with focus on prevention, risk reduction and environmental compliance.

Develops clear EHS accountability for all levels in the organization.

Integrates EHS into employee daily activities.

Coaches and mentors Factory leadership in the execution of their EHS accountabilities. .

Maintains and improves Factory EHS management system including facilitates Factory EHS management review..

Develops and implements annual EHS training plan and competence assessment

Ensures compliance with applicable legislation/regulation and SKF EHS policy and standards.

Achieve and maintain conformance to applicable ISO certifications ISO 14001, 45001, 50001.

Evaluates Factory EHS risks and proposes eliminating or mitigating risk controls including the JSA process, audits and inspections,

Develop and implement Factory Industrial Hygiene program..

Facilitates EHS incident investigation including managing corrective/preventive actions..

Manages Factory COMPASS installation.

Supports response to customer EHS inquiries..

Analyzes and reports EHS data including regulatory reporting.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor degree in safety, environment, environmental sciences, or occupational health and safety preferred. Engineering, chemistry or other applied science degree with equivalent industry experience acceptable.

Three to five years of industrial experience in design, development and oversight of environmental, health and safety.

Preferred Skills and Experience

 

Generalist-level Environmental Hazards and Safety knowledge: experience with safety, ergonomics, environmental compliance and industrial hygiene

Ability to multi-task: manage shifting priorities and project follow through with minimal supervision.

Strong planning, organizational, group facilitation, and presentation skills.

Intermediate Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)

Strong experience interpreting, applying and documenting federal, state and local safety; transportation and environmental regulations 

Preferred Qualifications

A thorough understanding of EHS and regulatory processes and best practices federal/state OSHA, , EPA, etc.
High commitment to the EHS value and the organization.

Knowledge of EHS standards ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001

Certified Safety Specialist or Industrial Hygenist


Candidate must have the ability to:
Ability to interface with all levels of employees and organizational functions.
Strong analytical skills are necessary to evaluate needs, mandated programs, EHS strategic plans and performance metrics to ensure continuous improvements.
Location: Shared position with Charleston and Sumter
Some Travel Required
